Minister Dith Tina Distributes Rice Seeds to Flood-Affected Families in Kampong Thom Province
Kampong Thom Province: On the morning of October 18, 2024, Mr. Dith Tina, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, distributed rice seeds to flood-affected individuals at the Kampong Svay District Hall in Kampong Thom Province.
During the distribution event, Minister Dith Tina conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Hun Manet, emphasizing the government's commitment to aiding farmers impacted by the recent floods. He encouraged the farmers to work together and closely follow the guidance of relevant ministries and institutions regarding weather forecasting and climate change adaptation to mitigate future risks to their fields.
The Minister highlighted the Royal Government's goal of ensuring food security and economic stability for farmers. "Our aim is to ensure that every farmer has sufficient food and resources; we will not leave anyone behind,” he stated, reaffirming the government's dedication to assisting in the recovery from the disaster's effects.
Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet, the Royal Government has prioritized policies designed to stabilize agricultural prices and reduce production costs, Minister Dith Tina added. He noted the deployment of agricultural technical officers to all communes and the establishment of modern agricultural communities to provide technical support, information, and problem-solving assistance to local farmers. These efforts are geared toward enhancing agricultural productivity and improving livelihoods, ultimately contributing to food security.
During this event, the Minister distributed a total of 467.2 tons of rice seeds to 4,672 farmers across seven districts in Kampong Thom Province—a vital resource to help the community recover from the impacts of the floods. This initiative underscores the government's commitment to supporting farmers and the agricultural sector during challenging times.
